EECA Member Selected as Mother of The Year

April 15, 2013

MURPHYSBORO – She was extremely humbled by the attention received when named this year’s Illinois Country Mother of the Year. JoAn Bollmann of rural Ava was honored on Wednesday, April 3 in front of more than 60 family members and friends.

The event, held at the Jackson Co. Extension Center in Murphysboro, was co-hosted by Egyptian Electric Cooperative Association, the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives (AIEC) and its monthly magazine, Illinois Country Living.

Nominated by her son Mark, Bollmann was chosen from many letters that poured into Illinois Country Living Magazine from across the state. Her “unofficial scorekeeper” role at Trico High School’s sporting events caught the judge’s attention, and they were especially moved by her commitment to her family and the local 4-H and Extension community.

As the titleholder, Bollmann received many gifts including a $100 gift card from the AIEC, and many others included in a gift basket. Several friends also came with cards and flowers for their newly honored friend.

Bollmann is featured on the cover of the May issue of Illinois Country Living Magazine, a rural electric publication delivered to more than 181,000 homes and businesses in the state.

Based in Springfield, the AIEC provides legal, engineering, communications, safety training, legislative and other services to a combined 29 electric generation and transmission cooperatives. AIEC member cooperatives serve more than 292,551 farms, homes and businesses in 90 counties, with 55,718 miles of line. AIEC is a member of Touchstone Energy® — an alliance of more than 720 local, consumer-owned electric utilities around the country, committed to providing superior service based on four core principles: integrity, accountability, innovation and commitment to community.

Illinois Country Living is the largest downstate magazine, reaching more than 416,000 readers per month in 73 of the 102 counties statewide. Illinois Country Living includes articles that help readers make informed decisions on energy efficiency, home safety and rural life issues.
