What to Do in Case of an Outage
In the event your power goes off, we offer these suggestions:- Check your main fuses or main circuit breaker in your distribution panel. Make sure the main breaker is in the “on” position by pushing it fully into the “off” position and then back fully into the “on” position. Many times when a breaker trips, it may look as if it is still in the “on” position. By physically resetting it you will be assured the breaker is in the “on” position.
- Check your meter pole or meter pedestal outside. If there are breakers there, make sure they too are in the "on" position also by pushing them fully into the “off” position and then back fully into the “on” position. If you live in a mobile home, electric safety codes require a disconnect device near the meter so there will be a set of breakers or fuses some where near your meter.
- If you still have no power, check with your neighbors to see if they have power. If they are also without power, most likely, there is a power outage on the system.
