Long Distance Phone Service
Egyptian Electric Cooperative, through our alliance with Southern Services, is happy to announce that we have entered into an agreement with a new long distance service provider that will allow us to offer even lower long distance telephone rates.
TransWorld Network is a service oriented organization that partners with over 
100 electric cooperatives across the country to provide long distance service, toll-free and calling cards at a substantially lower rate than we were previously able to offer.
With the new agreement, we can now offer rates of 4.5 cents per minute for in-state calls and 4.9 cents per minute for out-of-state calls. All calls are billed on 6 second increments with a 30 second minimum. As in the past, there is NO MONTHLY MINIMUM OR MONTHLY FEE.
If you travel frequently and need to call home or you have children or family living away, an 800 number is a great convenience. With our long distance service, you can have your own 800 number at the same low rates of 4.5 cents per minute in-state and 4.9 cents per minute out-of-state. And should you need to make calls while away from home, you can use a calling card at the low rate of 9.5 cents per minute.
Should you incur any switching fees for changing to TransWorld, simply photocopy that portion of your bill reflecting the charge and forward it to TransWorld. They will then issue a credit on your TransWorld bill.
To switch from our past provider or to sign up as a new customer, call toll free 1-866-836-6436. Or you can also sign up on-line or print out a form to fax in. You do not have to be a member of Egyptian Electric Cooperative or any other electric cooperative to receive this service. Anyone living in the state of Illinois is eligible to sign up for service, so be sure to pass the news on to friends and relatives.
In addition to new, lower rates, Transworld also offers several billing options to make their service even more convenient. You can be billed and pay as in the past, you can have your monthly bill deducted directly from a bank account (ACH billing) or you can have your monthly bill charged against a credit or debit card. And if you sign up for e-billing with any of the payment options, your out-of-state call rate will be lowered from 4.9 cents per minute to 4.5 cents per minute.
